I have a new obsession...wafer paper. I am following this amazing cake artist Stevi Fransen-Auble on Instagram . She is the queen of wafer paper decorations . I managed to make both of these flowers in under 20 mins flat. I airbrushed the colours on to the paper , hand cut shapes and created these beautiful blooms. I love the idea of sugar flowers , but these are magnificent and etheral in apperance. There are so many ways I can use wafer paper on my cakes, I can't wait to show you all in the next coming weeks what my first competition will look like !

pretty pastels...
Simple pretty pastel cakes for a bridal shower. Different shades of pastel butter cream to compliment the cake flavours - lemon cake with lemon curd and mascarpone , white chocolate and raspberry with white chocolate ganache and fresh raspberries and last but not least caramel mud with salted caramel butter cream ...yum . They looked fantastic on the dessert table.
Australia Day...
I was asked to create some Australia Day themed cupcakes for a fashion shoot for 'Fabrik'.
(check out their blog to see the pics)
I personally loved the 'Vegimite on toast 'topper as I used piping gel to give the brown fondant that special Vegimite glow !
Miffy was there as well... waving the flag !
valentines...
These were a special order for a fab new friend who wanted some of my cupcakes for a photo shoot.
The request was "something pastel+vintage+what ever you want to do".
These little babies are by far my FAVORITE toppers EVER.
I drew inspiration from vintage Valentine Day cards, the pleated satin bedheads from the 50-60s , kewpie dolls and rockabilly skulls . I just adore this colour combo as well and we all know I had to use a bit of glitter and a splash of neon.
I hope these looked amazing in the Photo Shoot .
I found it very hard to let them go... I wanted to keep them for ever
We are back for 2014!!...
My little mini cupcakes are back for another jam pack year of glitter and fondant!
I love making these little guys every week . As you can see I made extra super cute mini racing cars...still obsessed with that cake!, how cool is the pink car ( I always thought the Stig was a girl!)
Love to mix vintage with a bit of sparkle. My ballerina is dressed to impress in left over Xmas sprinkles and edible neon yellow glitter.
And of course the coolest bunny in town ...Miffy . She always has to have a new dress (and glasses)
So come and find us at Outpost Collaroy... if we haven't already been gobbled up.

Pizza Cake
This was super cute cake for Ella . A Pizza and pool birthday party. The cake was chocolate with polka dots(of course) , I used some of my favorite decorations... gummy pizzas . Looked great! I loved the little pizza Chef , she was fun to make.
Slimey head...
This was a crazy cake order!
10yr old Dillon was having a,wait for it.."Sports/obstacle course/slime party".
I though OK , this is different , any ideas from Dillon?
His lovely mum said "He was thinking a head with green slime all over it"
Got to love 10 yr boys , they always take it to the next level...
A head covered in green slime is what he got.
Happy Birthday Dillon.

My piece de resistance...
This magnificent creation pretty much topped off my year. A fabulous gold cake for a fabulous girl who was tuning 40. If someone told me in March last year that I would have produced a cake like this 9 months later , I would have held up the "W" sign..whatever.
The large tier was a triple barrel that contained 3 different flavored 9inch cakes. Lemon mud with lemon curd mascarpone, white chocolate and raspberry mud with white chocolate ganache and a delicious dark chocolate and white chocolate mud swirl with a dark chocolate and coffee ganache. The 5 inch tier on top was the dark chocolate cake. The cake was made to serve 100.
This cake was then airbrushed gold. I used royal icing to give the gold barrel some more added texture. The top tier was bathed in gold glitter from Germany. It looked amazing underneath the light. I also sourced from my favourite Etsy shop "Sugar Robot" the spectacular edible butterflies.I used about 120 of them. They were all placed by hand.
I Love this Cake.
For the lovely Nerina ...
Cupcake christmas tree...
Ho Ho Ho...
These are a great idea for Christmas parties! I had 2 separate orders for these fantastic centerpieces. One for an Adults only party (the chocolate one). I laced the butter cream with a coffee liqueur. Had to stop myself from licking bowl ,OMG!.
I added lindt balls for those who where gluten free. Worked a treat.
This one was for a Mothers group that still catch up after 8 yrs at Xmas time!
I included bags of lollies that had a tag with each child's name to place under the tree . I think both trees had about 60-80 cupcakes..they were pretty big, needless to say the car delivery had some hairy moments .
Toby the tram ...
This was another 1st birthday cake. Toby the Tram for a little boy called...Toby! I have always loved Toby the Tram , so dependable. I used a delicious lemon cake with lemon curd to make Toby , something different than the norm. It worked really well. The mini cupcakes were topped with the letter 'T' and the number 1.
I like to move it,I like to MOVE IT ...
This order came all the way from Singapore...William and Charlie were having a combined birthday party while they were on holiday in Sydney. Their mum contacted me about a jungle cake and I knew I had to do the MADAGASCAR gang. She said 'they are bonkers over that movie '. Who could blame them! . So the process began again with me making the character, showing it to my 3 1/2 yr old , asking him to identify the animal and it's name...he knew them all and the song...which he sang...all the time.

Duke's 1st birthday...
I had the pleasure of making the beautiful "D" cake for Dukes baptism. His lovely Mum contacted me again and asked me to create something for the little guy's 1st birthday. Basketball was the theme. I love themed parties and I always get on ETSY as my first port of call. I love love love ETSY , so I found a great shop that had a preppy basketball theme pack . BINGO ... struck gold. I sent the link to Duke's mum , she loved it as well and bought the whole range to use for the party. I was able to make toppers from the design to use for both the mini cupcake's and the large cupcake. Looked so effective because everything matched.
Taylor's Treasure...
Taylor was at Andy's Pirate party the week before. His mum loved the chest cake that she wanted one for his pirate party as well! No two treasure chests are the same , just the loot inside. I love using great paper for the cake boards , I think it compliments the cake well. Andy was a bit confused when he arrived at Taylor's and saw his cake there.

ahoy me hartys...
Captain Andy's 4th birthday was all about pirates , treasure chests and loot. I loved the wood grain effect on the chest. I also used a fab skull and cross bone motif on the cupcakes and the chest and lots and lots of gold coins for the greedy little pirates.
Trash Pack...
I don't know who loved this cake more ... my son or James the birthday boy.
Either way the love for the Trash Pack gang runs deep . James provided me with his favorite trashies , much to the disappointment of my 3 1/2 yr old they weren't for him . This cake had everything from slime , buzzy flies , fish bones , fizzy worms and green birthday cake....Awesome.
Everyday my son reminds me that I will be making him this cake for his birthday , watch this space.
Noah's Ark
So I had a phone call from this fabulous lady called Mia. She was in charge of the cake for her nephews Baptism. She had bought some of my cupcakes from Outpost at Collaroy and loved the Hula Girls!
The brief was the little guy's name is Noah , so think Noah's Ark ... two of everything and be as creative as you like...GAME ON!!!
Because I had 50 to make and create, I decided to do some actual Noah's Ark themed toppers.I just love the blue and orange/spot colour combo. The other 25 were crazy! Miffy even made an appearance in a pair sparkly glasses.
LiverpoolFC X tour de france X mountainbike X 40th ..
So this was another multi collaborative cake order. Having to combine not 2 but 4 obsessions into cake form. David was turning the big 4-O, loves Liverpool football club , mountain bike riding and the Tour De France. So I created a mountain birthday cake for him to climb on his bike , aka the mountain of life. Because when you reach the top you hit 40 and after that it's all down hill from there... I also made him a little spotty red shirt so he could be king of the mountain for just one day You'll never walk alone David.
PJ Party Time...
Not a banana in a pyjama at this party. Just a bunch of super cute 8yr girls in their PJ's. Abi loves all colours except pink! (pink shmink) . So I worked with her favourite colours purple and blue(and a few others) to create her party goodies.
I made a batch of teddies in PJ's cookies on a stick for the little ladies to take home in the loot bag.
I did something special for Abi's Chocolate cake...I peppered the inside with coloured polka dots. Abi loved it!

Dr who X Lego castle
This was a great custom order. Another customer who knew what he wanted.
David is a massive Dr Who and Lego Fan . So it seemed fitting that he wanted to combine them both for his 11 th birthday.
The first part of the order were 12 Dr Who inspired cupcakes. These were fun to create. I especially liked the 3d Tardis.
EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE EXTERMINTATE
The second part to this collaboration was a Lego castle with Dr Who elements. David sent me a few pictures to use as inspiration which were super helpful as I wanted to bring his vision to life!...well in cake form anyway. He supplied his Lego knights and I made the Dr's scarf and good old K-9 to guard the front door.
Judging from this great picture that his dad took , it was a success ...phew
